Summer Eco Craft Club - Communal Sculpture Project
9th August 2010 - 13th August 2010
As part of Westgate's Summer Eco Craft Club, children visiting the Centre from Monday 9 - Friday 13 August were given the opportunity to take part in a Communal Sculpture Making art project.
Local artist, Laura Bradshaw-Heap, visited the Centre over 5 consecutive days to enrol, enthuse and engage children in the communal craft activity.
Local children were invited to assist the artist in creating a large 3-dimensional papier mache structure of a Lion using old newspapers and magazines. The Eco themed sculpture was completed over 5 days and will remain on display in Westgate for the rest of the summer holidays for customers to enjoy. The names of the children who helped with the creation of the sculpture are on display next to it.
Westgate would like to say a big Thank You to all our customers who took part in this community art project.
The sculpture will remain on display until Sunday 5 September.
Would you like to give the lions a home once they leave Westgate?
We are looking for a local school or club to adopt the lions and give them a good home. If you are interested, please contact Centre Management.
